Introduction

It’s hard to describe this amazing spot, only a short distance from Mizen Head and Barleycove in West Cork on the Wild Atlantic Way. An initially mellow walk, over fields past grazing sheep overlooking Mizen Head, is followed by a bit of a steep but relatively short hill. But when you get to the top…and see what’s on the other side…WOW! You don’t know whether to sit down and take it all in for a while, or run down and explore the 3 Castle Head ruins. The lake that gives the area a sense of mystical calm, strangely also reminded me of an infinity pool.

The three majestic ruins perched on the craggy promontory will transport you back in time.
Dating back to the medieval era, these weathered remnants of stone evoke a sense of intrigue and wonder.

But Three Castle Heads offers more than just a glimpse into the past. Its untamed and captivating natural beauty serves as a vibrant backdrop for exploration and tranquility. Let the sound of crashing waves and the salty sea breeze invigorate your senses as you embark on a coastal hike, unveiling hidden coves and dramatic cliffs along the way.

Immerse yourself in the storied past, breathe in the wild beauty of West Cork, and create your own unforgettable experiences in this enchanting corner of Ireland.

Really, there is not much else to say except - Go Visit and experience it!!
